Hair Recepies Rosemary

Rosemary is native to the Mediterranean region. It is also a member of the mint family Lamiaceae, which also includes many other herbs. Rosemary is a woody, perennial herb with fragrant evergreen needle-like leaves. The flowers are variable in color, being white, pink, purple, or blue. This herb can be made into many recepies. I have included some here.

Can you or anyone advise why rosemary should be avoided as a hair rinse during pregnancy. I would have thought topical application would be fine, however I have seen many websites indicating it should be avoided without stating a reason.

my apologies for not responding to your comment sooner.

Rosemary essential oil has a stimulating effect on the body so care should be taken with epileptics. Heavy overuse could result in nervous twitches or muscle spasms.

There are differing opinions as to whether Rosemary Essential Oil is to be avoided during pregnancy some say yes while others say there is little empirical evidence of dangers about use during pregnancy and the warnings stem from effects of one of the hundreds of chemical compounds in the oil.

The oil is neurotoxic this would indicate that it is poisonous for the nerves, and it is normally recommended that Rosemary should be avoided if you are Pregnant, or suffer from Epilepsy, and Hypertensive people would do well to avoid using this oil in any form. This is just one of the arguments put forward if you click this link it will take you to the for and against using Rosemary.

I myself feel that we are all individuals and any of the oils could prove negative to user of the oils. If you where not pregnant I would say try it as a patch test first, if you do not get a negative reaction then it could be of some use to you. However, if I were pregnant I would look at the negative side of using Rosemary and would not use it regardless, of who is right or wrong, until the pregnancy had come full circle.
if I had used the oil to gain its benefits before pregnancy I would go back to using it again after pregnancy.
